How to Make a Fun Braai Weeny!

Making a Braai Weeny is super fun and tasty! It’s like having a cookout where you get to make your own yummy treats. Here’s how you can do it!

Get some bread dough (you can find this at the store).
Find some sticks or branches (one for each of you). The stick should be about as thick as a Vienna sausage.

Steps to Make Your Own Braai Weeny

Here’s how you can make your very own Braai Weeny. Make sure an adult is there to help you with the fire, but older kids (8+) can help with some parts too!

First, spread a little butter on the top part of your stick (about 15 cm up from the end).
Now, make your dough weeny: Take a handful of bread dough and roll it into a long shape, like a thick sausage.
Wrap the dough around your stick, starting from the top and spiraling down until it looks like a big dough roll.
Hold the stick by the end and cook your dough weeny over a campfire or BBQ.
It will take about 15-20 minutes to cook, depending on how hot the fire is.
When it’s ready, carefully slide the stick out of the dough. You’ll be left with a dough roll with a hole in the middle.
Cook some Vienna sausages on the fire and put one into the dough roll through the hole you made.
Yum! Now you have a crunchy and delicious Braai Weeny. It’s a great snack that’s way better than sweets and cakes!

Fun Tip: Kids also love roasting marshmallows over the fire. You can even dip them in chocolate for a sweet treat!
